Andrea Brennan will become the Director of Housing Policy and Development for the city of Minneapolis. She begins her new job in mid February.
Creating affordable housing and increasing home ownership rates in the city are among the tasks she will take on.

Andrea Brennan Named New Director of City of Minneapolis Housing Policy and Development
Wednesday, January 28, 2015 (Minneapolis, MN) – Today, City of Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development (CPED) Director D. Craig Taylor announced his appointment of Andrea Brennan as the new Director of Housing Policy and Development.
“I am delighted to welcome Andrea to the City of Minneapolis,” said Mayor Betsy Hodges. “She will be a great addition to the team, and I am excited to work with her on building upon the great work Minneapolis is doing on affordable housing. Andrea will lead our efforts to increase homeownership rates among all residents, particularly those most impacted by the foreclosure crisis. I know her leadership will help us do more to increase the availability of affordable family housing and expanded housing options for seniors.”
Brennan’s nomination comes following a comprehensive search conducted with the Chandler Group. Brennan has served as the Director of Community and Economic Development for Dakota County Community Development Agency since 2011. Prior to that, she served as the Deputy Executive Director for Washington County Housing and Redevelopment Authority.
“Andrea is a driven leader with 17 years of experience in all aspects of housing policy and development,” said D. Craig Taylor Director of Community Planning and Economic Development for the City of Minneapolis. “I am confident that her skills and experience will help us to develop a housing strategy that leverages the City’s resources to better serve our residents.”
As Director of Housing Policy and Development, Brennan will lead all housing development activities for the City of Minneapolis including manage and provide leadership to a staff of approximately 35 employees charged with implementing CPED housing policies to ensure that the housing development mix is aligned with desired outcomes.

Brennan has served as a board member for many organizations and nonprofits including: Minneapolis Development Finance Review Committee, Business Service Committee, Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board, National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies, National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, Sensible Land Use Coalition, Urban Land Institute, Minnesota Brownfields, and Economic Development Association of Minnesota.
Brennan will start at CPED on February 12, 2015.
